In an attempt to create awareness among the strong alumni contained by UVCE and make them understand the potential that the creation of an alumni group working for the betterment of college can bring about, we formed and started VisionUVCE in 2009 and formally registered it as a trust in 2012. The presence of such a community would positively complement the social and technological developments in our campus, also help in improving the standards of the institution taking it to newer heights and achieve excellence on national and global scenarios.
We have built a website which is updated regularly with our college on goings, serving as a communication medium networking with the alumni providing updates regarding the latest developments in campus which also help in uniting individuals with their batch mates, and revive the long lost connectivity. Moreover, it is a mode of inspiration to motivate all the alumni to come together and give back something concrete to the place that helped them grow and shape their careers. We have been able to collect around 6000 contacts of alumni from 1940s till latest batch graduates.

Here are few of the initiatives that we started, supported and carried on in the past years – A Throwback at the journey so far
Sampada
Sampada is a monthly e-magazine sent to all the alumni contacts around the globe, covering the latest updates, news about UVCE and also memories of alumni and students. Over the past 115 editions, it has become much more than just a magazine. It has cemented it’s place as a documentation of the UVCE’s past and present, while becoming a guide for bright and better future. The stories, memories, historic milestones, achievements – which were just folklore earlier- have now been preserved in a format which will establish the legacy of UVCE. We hope and also promise to continue for a long time to come so that it continues the job it has started. You can view all the editions and know for yourself here
Samvaada
A platform for alumni to interact with the students and other alumni – manifested as Samvaada. Over the past 10 years, it has taken various forms, with different names, but is going strong. We have done BootCamps – Half Day sessions for the students to help with Placements. There were times when alumni were invited to address the alumni and motivate the students. Along with this, we also experimented with modes – online and called it “Facebook Samvaada” couple of times. It facilitated students and alumni to share their thoughts and memories from any place. We even did one session to create awareness about “UVCE – Current status” so that some buzz is created in the social media.
We will be announcing future Samvaada sessions and you can join us for the interactive sessions with students.
Sammilana
A platform for the alumni to meet and greet each other, share the memories and experiences with younger generation, recent batches to explain the current status – that is what Sammilana is all about.
VU Scholarships
In the past 8 years, we are glad that with support of the alumni, we have given around 25 Lakhs worth of Scholarships to around 300+ students, hoping to assist in their education.We have followed rigorous process to select the deserving candidates and year on year, we have seen more alumni joining hands with us in this initiative.
This year Scholarship process is just beginning and we will keep everyone posted about it
Parichaya
A section to introduce the UVCE alumni and their achievements to the outside world. It can be called “UVCE Hall Of Fame”. It is an effort to document the profiles of our alumni in our website, so that we can proudly showcase their contribution to society and their achievements in their respective fields. The idea is also to inspire the younger generation about the wonderful legacy of our alumni fraternity.
Centenary Celebrations
Being part of the college legacy also meant that we need to celebrate the achievements of the alma-mater, espeically a major milestone like “Centenary Year”. We tried our best to create the buzz amongst alumni, students and the entire “UVCE Family” through various events like Marathon, Centenary Souvenir (Avalokana), UVCE Payana and more
Best Class
We felt, we need to come up with an initiative where we can create a healthy competitive environment amongst the students. After some brainstorming, we came up with “Best Class” initiative in the college in 2019. Through this, we hope, to bring the change at the ground level and give the push to create an environment where students get self-motivation to achieve extraordinary things in-spite of all the hurdles and constraints instead of just complaining.
We had planned this “Social Experiment” in detail, by assigning various criteria for judging points, selecting co-ordinators from each class, assigning a Point of Contact alumni to each batch, weekly reporting, self-evaluation and of course Prizes (worth of 45K including cash)
Student Iniatives
In the past 10 years, we have closely worked with the students and tried our best to support various initiatives that would benefit them:
- UVCE Jaatre: A fun-filled, colorful event sponsored by VisionUVCE from past 4 years which introduces various clubs and groups in colleges, their activities to the students(esp. freshers)
- G2C2 Club:Keeping the campus clean initiative has our backing from Day-1. Along with it, we have also joined hands in arranging the books in the library.
- Vinimaya:We purchased books(fiction and inspirational) supporting this Book Club started by students. We had also subscribed few magazines for Hostel students.
- SAE Club:In the past 4 years, we have sponsored around 2 Lakhs for multiple teams to build Go-Karts and participate in various competitions representing UVCE.
- College Fests:We have financially college fests (both technical and cultural) – Impetus, Kagada, Fiesta, Esportivo and others.
VU Champs
VisionUVCE as a team cherishes all the moments that is spent towards helping UVCE, even if it is in a small way. VisionUVCE team exists because of the team’s attachment towards the campus and the willingness to see it grow bigger.
We are sure, there are many blokes around in the campus who share the same wavelength as we do, ones who stand up to add stepping stones to our campus in various arena and at the same time grow to be a personality. The VisionUVCE team would like to recognize such inspired students as “VU Champs” inside the campus showering them with accolades and featuring them in all VisionUVCE offerings like the magazine, website, online web pages.
In past 5 years, since its started, we have named more than 70 students as VU Champs and appreciated their efforts with Certificates, Goodies etc.
Project Vishisht
For the talented students in the campus, pursuing their engineering dreams, we came up with the idea of providing a platform to work on small projects which will help them to work on what one learns in the classroom and in that way, he/she would learn more about the practical challenges. Our main goal was mini-projects, apart from the ones in the syllabus, to gather the interest amongst the students and going forward in future, aim at some cutting edge technology projects which will bring name and fame to the college along with the students.
As part of the process, we had suggested few topics, from which the students can work on any one of them out of their interest. We would offer technical guidance and also financial assistance, if needed. We did support couple of projects financially and tried out different ways to make this work (Mentorship from recent graduates, Faculty involvement), but failed to. We are pondering about how to make it more effective in coming days.
